Post cop-26 - What are the implications and the challenges for UK Real Estate?
This virtual event focuses on the implications of COP-26 for the UK Real Estate Industry. The Industry is responsible for c. 38% of global carbon emissions and consumes c. 40% of the World’s energy, thereby having a massive impact on achieving net-zero carbon by 2050!
Movers & Shakers has brought together leaders from the private and public sectors, to discuss the outputs from COP-26 and the reality for our Industry; upon which their is huge onus to drive quick and significant change.
What does The Glasgow Climate Pact mean for UK Real Estate? What were the successes of COP-26 and were there any failures? We ask our contributors’ opinions on how we move forward? What Government intervention and incentivisation is needed? How can public and private sector collaboration deliver best outcomes?
Where are the big challenges? How do we manage the massive financial costs? Meeting housing targets is a major issue for UK Real Estate. So, how do we balance the costs of new build v retrofit? Operational v embodied carbon? Who picks up the bill?
Innovation and technology is clearly also key - are solutions at the ready and do we have the right skill sets to deliver these on scale and on time? And, finally, how do we engage communities?
The net-zero carbon aim and responsibility must to be shared by Governments, businesses and civic society together. We look forward to hearing from our expert contributors; whose in depth knowledge, commitment and passion and actions, can help us to answer and understand the questions posed and be part of the opinion-making; influencing and driving change as stewards of our own environment.
