EVENT INFORMATION

The West End, London, is regarded as the World’s top shopping and leisure destination; anchored by Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street. It is also a prime residential location and home to a diverse base of businesses.

This jewel in London’s crown, is about the enhanced further with the arrival of Crossrail. This is an extraordinary opportunity for the West End! It is estimated that Crossrail will drive 30% more people into the West End – an extra 60 million visits each year (in addition to the current 200 million annual visits to the West End) and an extra £1.5bn spend to the West End each year.

“The age of Crossrail” (the biggest construction project in Europe) is the beginning of a new era for London’s West End, according to the New West End Company. Along with boosting retail; the Elizabeth line is serving as a catalyst for a wealth of innovation, development and some exciting public realm schemes across the West End.

Capitalising on Crossrail is not without its challenges! Creating a World-class experience for visitors will mean tackling current issues; such as poor air quality, unsatisfactory road safety and areas of current inadequate public realm.

The November 3rd breakfast panel brings together two leading development / investment organisations focused on London – Derwent London and Grosvenor; TFL – jointly responsible for commissioning the new Crossrail line and for the Capital’s transport system; leading high-end fashion retailer Longchamp and the GLA.
